Amsterdam Storage with Collection - We Come to You
MoverMate stores belongings collected in Amsterdam for €15 a week for a room load and €30 a week for a studio or one-bedroom flat, with a two-week minimum. We come to your Amsterdam address with our own van and driver, take everything away, and bring it back when you need it. Collection and redelivery are billed at €49 an hour with a 1.5-hour minimum, plus transport. MoverMate is NIWO-licensed and has completed more than 800 moves.
If you want the full picture on how storage works, pricing and what we can take, see the short-term storage service. If you are moving rather than storing, the Amsterdam moving service covers that.
Is my storage unit in Amsterdam?
No. Your things are stored in a locked, dry, ground-floor space in the Den Haag and Delft area, roughly an hour from Amsterdam. We collect from your Amsterdam address and drive them there.
That means this is not a service where you drop by on a Saturday to fetch a jumper. It is a service for things you know you will not need until a fixed date — the gap between two contracts, a summer abroad, a semester away. We can provide partially delivery of your items.
What you get instead is that everything stays together as one labelled lot rather than being split across shelves, and we photograph and list it all at collection and send you that list on WhatsApp.
Why is self-storage awkward if you live in Amsterdam?
Because almost all of it is on the edge of the city and almost none of you has a car.
The usual answers are all bad. A rental van means a licence, a deposit, a return deadline and finding somewhere to park it at both ends. A bakfiets works for boxes and nothing else. A friend with a car turns one afternoon into three trips.
With collection built in, the transport is the service. We arrive at your door, load at street level, if elevator is missing and drive away. You do not book a unit, you do not sign a contract, you do not need an access card, and you do not need to be able to drive.
What does storage cost if you live in Amsterdam?
The weekly storage price is the same everywhere we collect: €15 a week for a room load, €30 a week for a studio or one-bedroom flat, minimum two weeks. There is no deposit, no admin fee and nothing to pay when your things come back out.
Some worked examples:
Six weeks between contracts, one room. €90 storage, plus collection and redelivery.
Three months over the summer, one room. €180 storage, plus collection and redelivery. In most of Amsterdam that is less than a week of rent.
Two months, a studio. €240 storage, plus collection and redelivery.
Send your address and dates on WhatsApp and we come back with the full number — storage plus van — before you commit to anything.
What about getting things down an Amsterdam staircase?
This is the part people underestimate on this route, and it is worth planning for.
We load and unload at street level, if elevator is missing. If you need a hand with two or three of the heavier items, the driver can help bring those up or down, but a full canal-house staircase carry is not part of the service.
Practical version: get everything to the ground floor or the front door before the collection slot. Take bed frames and desks apart. If your street needs a temporary parking permit for a van — common in the centre — apply through the gemeente first, because it takes a few working days and it is the one thing that cannot be fixed on the morning.
Who stores things in Amsterdam?
People caught between two contracts. The Amsterdam rental market runs on fixed start and end dates that rarely line up. Your room ends on the 31st, the new place starts on the 15th, and no landlord is bending. This is the most common reason people message us.
Students leaving for the summer or an exchange. UvA, VU and HvA students going home for July and August, or away for a semester. Keeping an Amsterdam room empty for three months costs far more than storing what is in it.
Internationals between postings. People leaving the country for a few months who are not ready to sell everything, and are not paying Amsterdam rent to store a sofa.
People renovating or subletting. Clearing a flat for a few weeks so work can happen, or so it can be let furnished-light.
What all of these have in common is a known end date. That is when this model works. For the moving side of the same transition, see the student moving service.
Which parts of Amsterdam do you collect from?
All of it, and the surrounding towns. Collection works the same in De Pijp, Oud-West, the Jordaan, Oost, Noord, Nieuw-West, Zuidoost, IJburg, Westerpark and Bos en Lommer, and we also collect from Amstelveen, Diemen, Hoofddorp and Haarlem.
The neighbourhood does not change the storage price. We already run moves in 24 Dutch cities, so if you are anywhere in the Randstad, the answer is yes.
How do I book storage in Amsterdam?
Send a WhatsApp message to +31 6 48 85 21 48 with four things: your Amsterdam address including the floor, roughly what you want stored, the date you need it collected, and the date you expect to want it back.
You get a price the same hour — the weekly storage rate plus the van cost for collection. We come on the agreed date, go through the items with you, and send the photo list before driving off. When you want everything back, message us with the delivery address and we bring it.
A week's notice is comfortable. The end of the month is the busiest period in Amsterdam by a wide margin, because that is when most rental contracts turn over — if your contract ends on the 30th or 31st, book earlier than you think you need to.
