Hoofddorp Storage - Planned Around Your Flight

MoverMate stores belongings collected in Hoofddorp for €15 a week for a room load and €30 a week for a studio or one-bedroom flat, with a two-week minimum. We come to your address with our own van and driver, take everything away, and bring it back when you need it. Collection and redelivery are billed at €49 an hour with a 1.5-hour minimum of €73.50, plus transport. MoverMate is NIWO-licensed and has completed more than 800 moves.

Hoofddorp is different from the other places we collect from because of what sits next to it. Schiphol shapes who lives here and why they need storage. A lot of our Hoofddorp bookings are people leaving the Netherlands — a posting abroad, a contract ending, a year somewhere else — rather than moving between two Dutch addresses. And their collection date is not really a date. It is a flight, and a flight does not move.

For how storage works generally, see short-term storage; for moving rather than storing, see the intercity moving service.

How do you plan storage around a flight?

Backwards, starting from the departure time, and with a day of margin you hope not to need.

The mistake we see most often is booking the collection for the morning of the flight. It feels efficient. It is also the version of moving day where one delay — a late handover from the landlord, a lift that is out of order, a van stuck behind an accident on the A4 — means choosing between your belongings and your plane.

A plan that holds:

Collection two days before the flight, ideally. One day at the absolute minimum. Your things leave, you spend the last night with a suitcase and an airbed or at a friend's, and the flight day is only about getting to Schiphol.

Key handover after the collection, not before. Most landlords will do an inspection on an empty flat. Arrange it for the day after we collect.

Pack the suitcase first. Whatever is flying with you goes in the bag before anything else is boxed. Passports and chargers have ended up in storage more than once.

Tell us your flight date when you book, not just the collection date. It changes how we prioritise the slot.

What if you are leaving the country and not sure you are coming back?

A common position in Hoofddorp, and a reasonable one. You have a one- or two-year assignment abroad, maybe longer, and you do not know yet whether the next chapter is back here or somewhere else entirely.

Storage lets you postpone the decision without paying Dutch rent to do it. The furniture you chose, the bike, the boxes of things you would miss — they wait while you find out.

Be honest with yourself about the arithmetic, though. A room load for a year is €720. A studio load is €1,440. That is worth it for good furniture, a bike you like and things with sentimental value.

If you later decide to move abroad permanently, we can deliver everything to an address in the Netherlands — a friend's place, a family member's, or the pickup point of an international removal company you have hired. We do not ship internationally ourselves, but we can get your things to whoever does.

Can collection work around aviation shifts?

Yes, and it is worth asking, because a lot of Hoofddorp works on rosters rather than office hours.

Cabin crew, pilots, ground handling, air traffic, airport security, cargo — a large share of the people living around Schiphol work early starts, late finishes and irregular days off. A collection slot at 10:00 on a Tuesday is useless if you are flying out at 06:00 that day and landed at 23:00 the night before.

Tell us your roster when you book. We work seven days a week, 24/7, and on a job this size we can usually find a slot that falls on a day you are actually at home and awake. If you would rather not be there at all, someone else can hand over on your behalf — see the FAQ below.

The same applies to delivery. If you are coming back from a posting and landing on a specific date, tell us the flight and we will plan the redelivery for a day or two afterwards rather than the evening you arrive.

What does storage cost if you live in Hoofddorp?

€15 a week for a room load — a bed, desk, chair, wardrobe contents and 10 to 15 boxes. €30 a week for a studio or one-bedroom flat — bed, table, appliances and 20 to 30 boxes. Two-week minimum, no deposit, no admin fee, nothing to pay when your things come back out.

Collection and redelivery are separate jobs at €49 an hour with a 1.5-hour minimum of €73.50, plus transport. Because the storage space is about forty minutes away, a Hoofddorp collection usually runs 2 to 2.5 hours of van time — around €98 to €122.50 each way.

Some shapes that come up here:

Three months abroad, one room. About €180 storage, plus the two van trips.

A one-year posting, a studio. €1,440 storage.

Six weeks between leaving one flat and flying out. €90 for a room.

Send your address and dates on WhatsApp and you get the full figure — storage plus van — before you commit.

Which parts of Hoofddorp do you collect from?

All of it, and the rest of Haarlemmermeer. Toolenburg, Floriande, Overbos, Graan voor Visch, Pax, Bornholm, the older streets around the centre, and the newer districts toward Tudorpark are all routine. We also collect from Nieuw-Vennep, Badhoevedorp, Zwanenburg, Cruquius and Lisserbroek.

Most of Hoofddorp is recent housing, built from the 1980s onwards, which makes it one of the easier places we load from. The streets are wide, parking is usually close to the door, and the taller blocks generally have lifts. A room load is often on the van well inside the minimum time.

If you are in an apartment block with a reserved lift or a management company that needs notice for moving days, sort that before you book and tell us the window. We load at street level, if elevator is missing, so bring what you can down before we arrive.

How do I book storage in Hoofddorp?

Send a WhatsApp message to +31 6 48 85 21 48 with your Hoofddorp address including the floor, roughly what you want stored, the collection date, and — if you are leaving the country — your flight date.

You get a price the same hour. We come on the agreed date, go through the items with you, and send a photographed list before driving off, so you have a record of exactly what went in. That list matters more than usual when you are about to be several time zones away.

Book at least a week ahead, and further if your collection falls at the end of the month or in the summer, when the region moves at once. If your flight date is fixed, book as soon as you know it.

What should I know before I book?

MoverMate collects from any Hoofddorp or Haarlemmermeer address and stores your belongings in a locked, dry ground-floor space near Den Haag. Storage is €15 a week for a room load and €30 a week for a studio or one-bedroom, minimum two weeks, no deposit and nothing to pay on the way out. Collection and redelivery are €49 an hour with a 1.5-hour minimum of €73.50 plus transport, typically €98 to €122.50 each way from Hoofddorp. If you are flying out, book the collection at least a day before departure, not the morning of. Collections can be scheduled around aviation shift rosters, seven days a week. The drive is covered by carrier's liability insurance through Allian. You get a photographed item list at collection. MoverMate is NIWO-licensed, has completed over 800 moves, works in English, and books on WhatsApp at +31 6 48 85 21 48. See also short-term storage and storage in Amsterdam.

Frequently asked questions

1. How much does storage cost in Hoofddorp?

€15 a week for a room load and €30 a week for a studio or one-bedroom, minimum two weeks. Collection and redelivery are billed separately at €49 an hour with a 1.5-hour minimum of €73.50, typically €98 to €122.50 each way from Hoofddorp, plus transport. We quote both together before you commit.
Yes. Storage and van time are paid by bank transfer, and a transfer from an account outside the Netherlands works the same way. Tell us when you book if you will be paying from abroad, so we can send the details in the right format.
On WhatsApp, the same number you booked on. It works from anywhere with a data connection, so extending storage, arranging delivery or asking a question does not depend on which country you are in or what time it is there.
Yes. Give us their name and number in advance. Someone needs to be present at the collection, because we go through the items together and issue the photo list before driving off, but it does not have to be you. The photo list is sent to you directly on WhatsApp either way.
No, there is no walk-in access. If you need an item back mid-storage, we retrieve it and deliver it as a separate van job at the normal hourly rate. If you think you will need something, keep it out of storage or tell us at collection and we will keep it near the front.
Nothing, apart from more weeks. Storage is billed by the week with no maximum and no extension fee. Send us a message when you know the new date, from wherever you are.
Yes, and most people do. Storage usually sits between two homes, so we expect the delivery address to be new — including outside Den Haag or outside the country's usual radius. We need it a few days ahead, and if it is significantly further we tell you the difference in van time before you agree.
That is fine and quite common here, because postings and contracts get extended. Book the collection and leave the return date open. Storage is billed by the week, so you pay for what you use and message us when you know. There is no extension fee and no new minimum period.
No food, liquids or anything hazardous — gas bottles, fuel, paint, fireworks. No pianos, safes or items needing a crane. Also avoid storing passports, work permits, contracts and anything else you might need to show at a border or an embassy. Keep documents with you.
Yes, along with Cruquius, Lisserbroek and the rest of Haarlemmermeer. Those addresses price the same as Hoofddorp itself, since the difference in drive time is negligible.
Yes. MoverMate holds a NIWO license, which is the Dutch national transport authorisation required to move goods commercially. We have completed more than 800 moves across the Netherlands.
