Why is loading in Rotterdam the easy half?

Because most of Rotterdam was rebuilt after 1940, and it shows in every practical way that matters to a van.

Wide streets. Modern blocks. Lifts as standard in the taller buildings. Parking that is usually within sight of the entrance rather than around a corner and over a bridge. Kralingen, Blijdorp, Hillegersberg, Prins Alexander, Ommoord and most of Zuid load quickly — a room's worth on board in well under an hour if your things are downstairs.

Two exceptions worth flagging. Delfshaven and the older pockets near the centre are tighter, with narrower streets and some walk-up buildings. And high-rise blocks often require the service lift to be reserved in advance, common in Zuid and around the Kop van Zuid — book the slot before you book us and tell us the window.

The asymmetry is the point. On this route the pickup is quick and the delivery is constrained, which is the opposite of how most people imagine a move works. It also means any time you save at the Rotterdam end is time in hand at the Utrecht end, where you may genuinely need it. Packing properly in Rotterdam pays off 60 kilometres later.

Can the move be split across two trips?

Do not load the van yourself though — the driver stacks and straps it, because how the load sits matters on the drive.

5. How many people come with the van?

One driver. We are a van-and-driver service rather than a crew, so if you have heavy items you will want a friend on hand to help carry them down. The driver loads, secures and transports, and can help with a couple of heavier pieces. The van can accommodate two additional people during the trip, so you are welcome to bring a friend, or a helper.

6. Do you move fridges, washing machines and other appliances?

Yes, if you have elevator, otherwise it should be ready at the ground floor. Disconnect and drain them the day before rather than on the morning — washing machines in particular hold water, and transport drums should be refitted if you still have them. A fridge should ideally stand upright for a few hours after arrival before being switched on.

7. What if it rains on moving day?

We move in all weather; it is the Netherlands. Boxes should be closed and, if you can, mattresses and upholstered furniture wrapped in plastic or a cover — those are what suffer. The driver keeps the van doors managed in heavy rain.

8. Can I change what I am moving after I have booked?

Yes, within reason — tell us as soon as you know. A few extra boxes changes nothing. An extra sofa and a wardrobe might change the estimate or, on this route, turn it into a two-trip job. It is far easier to adjust three days out than on the morning.

9. Do you work at the weekend?

Yes, seven days a week. Saturday is the busiest moving day of the week, so it books out first; Sunday is usually easier to get. Since this is a shorter route the van is not committed all day, which means more slots than on the long-distance routes.

10. Do you collect from Schiedam, Capelle or Vlaardingen?

Yes, along with Barendrecht, Ridderkerk, Spijkenisse and the surrounding area. On a 60-kilometre route, a few kilometres either side of Rotterdam makes no difference to the price. The same applies at the other end for Nieuwegein, Zeist, Houten and Maarssen.
